A more relaxed checkout

Tesco has launched new state of the art checkouts at its new 80,000 sq ft store in Lincoln. The aim – to make the payment and packing process a more relaxed experience and free up the checkout staff to take up more service focussed roles.

The checkouts automatically scan products as they are fed through the conveyor using imaging technology, allowing staff more time to spend with the customer.

The machines feed the customer’s shopping into one of three packing areas taking the pressure off the customer and allowing them to pack at their own pace.

We worked alongside NCR, the concept creators, to develop the new look and feel for the checkouts as well as helping define and develop the operational process.
